I knew Bill through the Cambridge Economic Crime Symposium, initially in 2008. Over the years from time to time we supported our contributions to this event. In the early years he also organised a memorable sing song night in the 'Champion of the Thames' pub. His views were challenging and radical. His intellect considerable. But every time I return to the Cambridge symposium, and every time I see Everton FC playing on T.V., what I will remember, with great affection, will be his humanity, his humour, his kindliness, his irresistible personal charisma. RIP Bill. I will miss you.
